Description
FC3S Exterior Door 3D Scan Dataset
Source vehicle
1989 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II Coupe — Series 5 (Japanese import)
This dataset contains exterior surface geometry of the left and right doors captured from a Japanese-market 1989 Turbo II FC3S. The data was recorded as part of a broader vehicle scanning project used during development work for SCHURKEE products.
The dataset is intended as a dimensional reference for designers and manufacturers developing exterior components that interact with the FC3S door surfaces.
Dataset overview
The dataset includes two STL files.
Left exterior door surface
A scan of the left door exterior showing its contours.
Right exterior door surface
A scan of the right door exterior captured from the same vehicle.
Both models are aligned to the XYZ coordinate system, allowing immediate import into CAD software environments.
Vehicle configuration
The source vehicle was a 1989 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II (Series 5) originally produced for the Japanese domestic market.
The door geometry represents the exterior surfaces exactly as captured from the vehicle at the time of scanning.
Data specifications
Mesh density
Left door
Approximately 2 million triangles
Right door
Approximately 2 million triangles
Dimensional resolution
Approximately ±0.5 mm
File format
STL mesh
Model orientation
Both door scans are pre-aligned to the XYZ coordinate system, allowing direct import into CAD environments such as Fusion 360 and similar modelling software.
Scan coverage
The dataset includes:
-
Exterior door skins
-
Window frame geometry
-
Door surface curvature and body lines
Interior door structure, mounting hardware, and hinge areas are not included in this dataset.
Mesh condition
The meshes have been processed to remove most capture artefacts while maintaining the original recorded surface detail.
Minor texture variation may appear in certain areas due to scan overlap or lighting differences during capture. These variations are cosmetic and do not affect the dataset when used as reference geometry.
The surfaces have not been artificially smoothed, preserving the original captured geometry.
Typical applications
This dataset is intended for workflows such as:
-
Body kit development
-
Mirror development
-
Widebody panel alignment
-
Replacement door skins
File delivery
After purchase, a download link will be sent via email providing access to the dataset.
The download link is single-use and can only be downloaded once, helping reduce the likelihood of redistribution.
If the original purchaser loses their files, they may request a replacement download link at any time.
Usage conditions
The purchaser may use the dataset for internal design work and commercial product development.
However:
• The scan files themselves cannot be redistributed
• The dataset may not be resold, shared, or transferred
• Any portion of the scan data may not be published or redistributed
Products developed using this dataset may be manufactured and sold.
