Description
Honda Civic Type R FN2 Rear Bumper 3D Scan
Source part
2008 Honda Civic Type R GT FN2 rear bumper (OEM, UKDM)
This dataset contains exterior surface geometry of the OEM rear bumper from a Honda Civic Type R FN2, captured as a reference model for rear-end development and exterior design work.
The bumper was scanned on the vehicle and post-processed to isolate the bumper geometry, retaining the full exterior surface and useful underside data for further development and reference.
Dataset overview
The dataset is supplied as an STL mesh and is aligned to the XYZ axis, allowing immediate use in CAD environments.
The complete OEM bumper is represented, including the lower diffuser section and rear reflectors. The number plate was removed during scanning, providing clear reference geometry across the number plate area.
Data specifications
Mesh density
Approximately 2 million polygons
Dimensional resolution
Approximately ±0.5 mm
File format
STL mesh
Model orientation
Aligned to the XYZ coordinate system for direct use in CAD software such as Fusion 360 and similar environments.
Scan coverage
The dataset includes:
- Full OEM rear bumper geometry
- Upper and lower exterior surfaces
- Underside bumper geometry
- OEM lower diffuser section
- Rear reflectors
- Number plate area with the plate removed
- Overall surface transitions and curvature
The exhaust outlets are not present within the scan. Due to the position of the FN2's exhaust tips further forwards beneath the vehicle, they sit outside the useful line of sight when capturing the rear bumper and therefore are not represented within the dataset.
Only the rear bumper and associated components listed above are included. Adjacent body panels have been removed during post-processing.
Mesh condition
The mesh has been cleaned to remove most scanning artefacts whilst maintaining the original captured surface geometry.
Thin scanning tape was used across selected areas of the bumper to improve surface tracking during capture. The tape introduces only a minimal additional surface thickness relative to the dimensional resolution of the dataset and does not meaningfully affect its intended use as reference geometry.
Using this method also reduces the preparation and processing time required to capture difficult surfaces, helping to keep the dataset more affordable whilst retaining useful dimensional data.
The surface has not been artificially smoothed, preserving the original captured geometry.
As with any 3D scan, parts developed using the dataset should account for appropriate tolerances, manufacturing requirements and final physical fitment rather than treating the captured mesh as production-ready geometry.
Typical applications
This dataset is particularly suited to workflows such as:
• Development of rear diffusers and aero components
• Rear spats and bumper extensions
• Designing modified or replacement rear bumpers
• Exhaust surround and rear trim development
• Reverse engineering and CAD reference
• General rear aero development
• Digital modelling and visualisation
File delivery
After purchase, a download link will be sent via email providing access to the dataset.
The download link is single-use and can only be downloaded once. If the original purchaser loses their files, a replacement download link can be requested at any time.
Usage conditions
The purchaser may use the dataset for internal design work and commercial product development.
However:
• The scan files themselves cannot be redistributed
• The dataset may not be resold, shared or transferred
• Any portion of the scan data may not be published or redistributed
Products developed using this dataset may be manufactured and sold.
